Wait. What?!?

Collection page image for Wait. What?!?!. Inside a grand museum gallery, a carton of milk, a jar of peanut butter, and a swan watching a television are displayed as though they are priceless works of art. Spotlights illuminate each exhibit while museum placards provide absurd descriptions. The collection title, “THE WAIT. WHAT?!?! COLLECTION,” appears at the top. Tristan Robert Lange’s monogram is embedded into the floor as a museum seal, with tristanrobertlange.com displayed beneath.

Wait. What?!?! (now found here).

Not every poem arrives with a map.

Some wander in carrying a carton of milk. Others arrive clutching peanut butter, arguing with swans, or insisting that Louis Vuitton has somehow become Blue Paul Giamatti. Logic is often present…but under no obligation to explain itself.

These poems inhabit the territory where absurdity, wordplay, misdirection, satire, and sheer linguistic mischief intersect. Some begin with a pun and refuse to recover. Others follow a perfectly reasonable thought straight off a cliff. A few simply stand in the middle of the gallery and dare reality to justify itself.

Welcome to the collection.

Please enjoy the exhibits.

Please refrain from feeding the metaphors.

The Collection 🦢🥛🥜

  • Mouth, Ass, and Foot Disease

A wheezing warning, an absurd diagnosis, and one mercifully simple treatment. “Mouth, Ass, and Foot Disease” is a gleefully juvenile dose of mock-medical poetry for anyone whose mouth and feet keep getting them shown the exit.

  • in the loop

A gleefully absurd plunge into psychedelic recursion where wizard lizards, magma rivers, robot stop abodes, and impossible nonagon doors collide. Inspired by the wonderfully inescapable world of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.

  • the tao of burritos

Four paths promise wisdom. One seeks ecstasy, another resistance, another rhythm. The last simply finishes a burrito while chatting with a mosquito. Sometimes the deepest way forward begins by not rushing at all.

  • Oh Dear!

A mother deer guides her fawn through a world divided by roads, houses, and strange “stoop people.” Told entirely through a deer’s perspective in Tristan Robert Lange’s original form, The Globe’s Stage, this woodland tale quietly transforms into heartbreaking tragedy.

  • damn

An absurd revelation becomes a deeply human one. A tiny fairy, a peanut butter joke, and a labeled container collide in this surreal poem about identity, recognition, and the unexpected plans life rewrites.

  • chicken liver pâté

You promised pâté. Instead, we’re left staring at a platter of chicken livers. A gleefully absurd satire on empty refinement, performative clout, and the gulf between presentation and reality.

  • Chewie

A dancing swan dreams itself into luxury, turns impossibly blue, and emerges reborn in the image of Chewie. An absurdist journey through fashion, transformation, dream logic, and unapologetic nonsense.
