And Yet It Moves

A dark, moonlit ocean stretches beneath heavy storm clouds, illuminated by a bright opening in the sky. Over the image is the poem text: “Leviathan!—let loose the beast of the sea—Ignorantia damnata! For they know better.” The image evokes power, truth, and accountability amid vast darkness.

God created the heavens and the earth,
And all that is in them, including human beings.
Lies do not prove nor preserve this as truth.
If God created everything, including people,
Let it be stated that God also created intelligence.
Everyone has been given the capacity to think,
Observe, and learn—differing limitations aside.

Gross egos clutch their pearls of power—
Avoidance of new truths always leads to abuse.
Leviathan!—let loose the beast of the sea—
Ignorantia damnata! For they know better.
Let this world know the truth will not be silenced.
Every human will account—knowledge before them—
Ignorance, in that light, will be no sound defense.

Poet’s Note:
An acrostic Scorched Sunday poem, part of my Scorched Strays series. This piece wrestles with knowledge, power, and accountability—where truth is observed, resisted, and yet continues to move. The form is intentional. What is hidden matters as much as what is spoken.
