haunts of humiliation

Two hands with unevenly applied black nail polish, with smudges and streaks of polish on the skin. The background is bright pink with black drips at the top. The image is raw and unfiltered, emphasizing the poem’s themes of humiliation, beauty, and emotional exposure.

i wanted my hands to be

pretty—painted—
ten black holes

ten black holes—
ten reminders
remain—

permanent—

your disdain toward me—
my being pretty—

ugliness
