Pantoum of Doom

An empty bus stop under a rusted iron bridge at dusk. Torn papers scatter across the wet pavement as storm clouds gather overhead. The scene glows dimly with amber light, evoking loneliness, futility, and decay. Tristan Robert Lange’s monogram appears on the shelter wall.

What is left for us?
What was ever there?
Have we missed the bus?
Does anyone care?

What’s ever been there—
‘Neath the rusted truss—
Does anyone care?
Are we stuck like thus?

‘Neath the awful truss,
Life’s a rotten stare—
Are we plucked like thus?—
We’re caught unaware.

Life’s an evil stare—
Have we missed the bus?
We’re caught unaware.
What is left for us?
