The Usurper’s Call

A dark, gothic painting of an aged man wearing a crown, seated on a cracked stone throne with a stern expression. Beside him stands a weary horse labeled “Grace,” under a stormy sky. The TRL monogram appears in the corner.

Hanging up humility on
Yesterday’s conversion
Pretentiously upon false pretense,
Occupying God’s throne—
Crown upon cocky creature
Riding atop a horse named Grace.
Irony escapes such situations,
Stealing away from the fall to come.
Yes—quite the wake up call.
